I strive to provide an environment that promotes artistic focus in a private and personal atmosphere, where artists can come to be relaxed. Where they can feel free from outside pressures, and where the clock is not running, so that the emphasis is on the writing, the arrangements, the performance and the recording. ThunderCreek was built for this purpose. When an artist is in residence for their project, all setups are undisturbed. As creative ideas form we are able to execute them immediately. What makes a great artist? It's: Great Songwriting with Great Hooks, Great Performances with Incredible Stage Presence, and raw energy that grabs your attention and doesn’t let go. In order for this to translate to records and radio, my role is to create an atmosphere where Vitality and Energy are channeled into Creativity with reckless abandon, and to help artists find and showcase their strengths by choosing the correct material and refining the arrangements so that the melodic structure and the musical transitions all work for the betterment of the Recording. The only way to accomplish this is to understand what I call “Truth in Music”. That is Be True to Yourself. Don’t ever make a conscious effort to change your music into something you think others will like or want. That doesn’t mean we won’t be agonizing over every detail! That’s just being passionate about what you do. What it does mean is doing what makes you feel good, or bad for that matter. To provoke an emotion or a feeling, that’s what Music is! And in the process if it makes you feel, its gonna make someone else feel. That is the only way I know how to make records.
